Approval granted for Bay Broadcasting’s acquisition of Galway Bay FM

Bay Broadcasting has officially taken over Galway Bay FM following approvals from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) and Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan. This acquisition, announced in early June, enhances Bay Broadcasting’s position in the Irish radio market, making it the second-largest radio group in the country and the largest Irish-owned group.

With the acquisition, Fionnuala Rabbitt has been appointed as the new chief executive of Galway Bay FM. Rabbitt previously served as a producer and digital media lead at the station, which she describes as her professional home. Keith Finnegan will take on the role of board chair.
