Khalid Al Ghannam Al Ettifaq’s Electrifying Winger Set to Join Al Hilal

Khalid Al Ghannam has started the 2025-26 Roshn Saudi League season in impressive form. The electrifying winger returned to Al Ettifaq after a loan spell at Al Hilal and has quickly made an impact. With three goals and two assists in the early matchweeks, he ranks high for goal contributions, trailing only Joao Felix and Kingsley Coman of Al Nassr.
Khalid Al Ghannam’s Journey
Born in the Eastern Province, Al Ghannam developed his skills at Al Qadsiah, joining their academy at the age of 13. By 18, he made his professional debut. His performances earned him a move to Al Nassr in January 2020, where he signed a five-year contract.
During his first two full seasons at Al Nassr (2020-21 and 2021-22), Al Ghannam played 49 league matches and scored seven goals. His form led to a call-up to the Saudi Arabia national team, where he played against Japan in a crucial World Cup qualifier in February 2022.
Challenges and Returns
Following promising seasons, Al Ghannam faced challenges as he saw limited action in the subsequent three years. He appeared in 23 matches for Al Nassr, primarily as a substitute, with a brief loan to Al Fateh.
In January 2024, he made a move to Al Ettifaq, concluding the season with six substitute appearances. A subsequent loan to Al Hilal saw him play 11 times, all from the bench. Frustration at the lack of playing time highlighted his potential and desire to impact games more significantly.
Al Ettifaq’s Rising Star
Returning to Al Ettifaq has been transformative for Al Ghannam, especially under the guidance of manager Saad Al Shehri. His previous experience with Al Shehri dates back to representing Saudi Arabia in the under-23s and the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Deployed as a left winger, Al Ghannam has been efficient. Despite limited touches, he leads in goals and assists for Al Ettifaq and has created significant goal-scoring opportunities. His tactical sense has allowed him to be impactful even without constant involvement in play.
Looking Ahead
As Al Hilal visits this weekend, Al Ghannam aims to capitalize on his momentum and further prove his value. At 24, he is poised for a stellar season with Al Ettifaq, demonstrating the potential of a fresh start.
