Matt Entz Joins Prestigious Coach of the Year Watch List

Fresno State’s Matt Entz has joined an esteemed group as he makes the 2025 Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year watch list. This distinction has been awarded by the American Heart Association for the past 40 years, honoring college coaches and remembering Bear Bryant, a legendary figure who passed away in 1983 due to a heart attack.

Entz Amongst Elite Company

Entz is one of 28 coaches from across the nation receiving this honor. The Mountain West sees two representatives with Entz and Dan Mullen from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Rebels, who have achieved an impressive 6-0 record. Fresno State Bulldogs, under Entz’s guidance, currently hold a 5-2 overall record, positioning them fourth in the Mountain West with a conference record of 2-1.

Career Highlights

Before leading the Bulldogs, Entz was part of the University of Southern California’s coaching staff under Lincoln Riley, who is also on the watch list. Additionally, Kalen DeBoer, formerly with Fresno State and now leading the University of Alabama, joins this prestigious list.
