The wildfire at Domaine Morency has reignited, drawing significant attention due to its rapid spread. High winds exacerbated the situation over the weekend, particularly impacting Route 155. On Sunday night, municipal firefighters began their efforts at 10:45 PM to combat the blaze.

According to André Vézina, the director of the Fire Service, the fire’s most intense activity is noted near Route 155. Firefighters are focused on preventing the fire from reaching nearby residential areas. While no evacuations are currently planned, residents have been advised to remain alert.

The situation remains critical due to the rapid spread of the fire, fueled by strong winds and abundant flammable materials. Fire authorities are waiting for assistance from the SOPFEU (Société de protection des forêts contre le feu). A request for aerial support with planes and helicopters has been submitted. “We are inquiring about what resources will be prioritized for intervention in Quebec,” stated Vézina.

Much-needed rain is anticipated on Monday, with forecasts suggesting 10 to 15 mm. Firefighters hope this will aid their efforts in controlling the wildfire.
