Cyclist Victim Identified in Huntington Beach DUI Hit-and-Run; Driver Charged with Felonies

The tragedy occurred in Huntington Beach during the early hours of the morning. A driver struck three cyclists on Pacific Coast Highway, resulting in the death of one and injuries to two others. The incident happened shortly after 6:45 a.m., near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Newland Street.

Coroner’s officials identified the deceased cyclist as Eric John Williams, a 45-year-old resident of Garden Grove. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two victims were hospitalized with serious injuries.
Details of the Incident
The driver involved in this DUI hit-and-run was Amber Kristine Calderon, a 43-year-old woman from Long Beach. Following the collision, Calderon fled approximately half a mile before being apprehended by law enforcement officers. She now faces multiple charges, including:
- Gross vehicular manslaughter
- Felony hit and run
- Felony DUI
- Possession of narcotics
Investigation and Road Closures
Huntington Beach Police Department’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating the incident. As part of the investigation, all southbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway, from Beach Boulevard to Newland Street, were temporarily closed and remained so until just before 1 p.m. on the same day.
