Enduring Heat Lingers: Will San Antonio See Fall Weather Soon

The Texas A&M Forest Service has issued a warning about elevated wildfire risks across much of Texas. This alert is especially pertinent on Monday, but a decrease in danger is expected by Tuesday as winds diminish.
Weather Patterns in San Antonio: Temporary Relief Ahead?
While San Antonio cannot declare the arrival of fall just yet, signs of autumn are beginning to appear. This week, afternoon temperatures are predicted to stay above normal, hovering in the upper 80s and lower 90s. However, a gradual cooling trend is on the horizon due to the increasing frequency of cold fronts.
Temperature Forecast
After a recent cold front, early Monday morning temperatures in the eastern Hill Country and areas along the Interstate 35 corridor are expected to dip into the 50s. Some low-lying regions might even experience temperatures in the upper 40s, according to the National Weather Service.
- Monday Afternoon: Expected high of 92 degrees, about 10 degrees above normal for October 20.
- Predawn Tuesday: Temperatures may cool down to around 67 degrees.
- Tuesday Afternoon: Highs projected to reach 91 degrees with clear skies.
Wind Conditions
Blustery east winds of 5 to 10 mph on Monday will shift to warmer south-southwest winds by the afternoon, gusting up to 20 mph. On Tuesday, these winds will transition to north-northeast breezes, maintaining similar strengths.
Upcoming Cold Front
Another cold front is anticipated to move into the region on Tuesday. However, forecasters indicate minimal moisture recovery, suggesting this front will likely bring dry conditions. The National Weather Service has mentioned that no significant rainfall is expected from this system.
Moisture Levels and Temperature Trends
After the midweek cold front passes, moisture levels are set to rise again. Following Tuesday’s system, Wednesday’s forecast anticipates afternoon temperatures to remain cooler, typically below 86 degrees. Increased atmospheric moisture may introduce a few streamer showers by Thursday.
- Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy with temperatures above 67 degrees.
- Thursday Afternoon: Conditions should be mostly sunny with highs reaching 90 degrees.
The forecast remains somewhat uncertain regarding the specifics of another cold front expected later in the week. Global models suggest an upper-level trough may influence weather patterns in the southern Plains, but further details will emerge in the coming days.
