Utah Jazz Unveils Plans for New Practice Facility Within Sandy’s SEG Sports Campus

The Utah Jazz are set to move their practice facility to Sandy, Utah, as part of the Smith Entertainment Group’s expanding sports campus. The announcement was made on a recent Tuesday, revealing plans for the new training center located on the east side of The Shops at South Town. This development will place the Jazz in close proximity to the newly opened Utah Mammoth practice facility.
New Training Center Features
The new facility will include a variety of amenities aimed at enhancing both player development and team collaboration. Major features of the new Utah Jazz practice facility will include:
- Two basketball courts
- A dedicated team locker room
- Workout and training areas
- A performance kitchen
- Gathering spaces for interactions between teams
Community and Collaboration
The Jazz’s president of basketball operations, Austin Ainge, highlighted the importance of creating spaces where players from both the Jazz and the Utah Mammoth can interact. Plans are being developed for areas where basketball and hockey players can engage socially, possibly playing games like ping pong or watching television together.
Ryan Smith, the owner of the Jazz, expressed excitement about the innovative environment that the new campus will foster. He emphasized the facility’s design, which aims to surpass their current practice site at the Zions Bank Basketball Campus in Salt Lake City. Though the current facility underwent a significant renovation in 2017, the Sandy location promises even more space and resources.
Timeline for Completion
The Jazz expect construction to be completed within two years. However, it is likely that the facility will not be ready in time for the start of the 2026-27 season. Smith indicated that they are committed to moving forward as quickly as possible, with a timeline that may fall in the range of months.
With these developments, the new Utah Jazz practice facility within Sandy’s SEG Sports Campus aims to become one of the premier training environments in professional sports, comparable to renowned facilities like Real Madrid’s training complex.
