Saints Reshape Roster Amid Kendre Miller’s Season-Ending Injury Impact

The New Orleans Saints have made significant roster changes following major injuries to players Erik McCoy and Kendre Miller. Both players are now sidelined for the rest of the season due to an ACL injury and a biceps injury, respectively.
Roster Changes Following Injuries
On Tuesday, the Saints announced the signing of running back Velus Jones Jr. to the active roster. Additionally, running back Audric Estime has been added to the practice squad. The decision to bolster their running back position comes in light of injuries sustained during Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.
Impact of Injuries
- Erik McCoy (biceps injury) – out for the season
- Kendre Miller (ACL injury) – out for the season
This marks Velus Jones Jr.’s second stint on the Saints’ 53-man roster. Previously, the 28-year-old played as the team’s kick returner in the first five games of the season. Although he was released earlier this month, he has now returned to the active roster.
Profile of New Additions
Audric Estime begins his journey with the Saints after a brief tenure with the Denver Broncos. As a fifth-round pick in 2024, he was selected three spots ahead of quarterback Spencer Rattler. Estime showcased his potential by rushing for 310 yards and scoring two touchdowns across 76 carries in 13 games with the Broncos.
Following his release from Denver, Estime spent time on the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad. He was let go last week, leading to his signing with the Saints.
Current Roster Status
With these latest roster moves, the Saints currently hold one open spot on their roster. The team is looking to adapt and overcome the challenges posed by the significant injuries to key players.
