Disney Appoints New Disney Plus and Networks Chief to Lead Sub-Saharan Africa Expansion
The Walt Disney Company has appointed Rochelle Knock as Vice President for Disney+ & Networks and Country Head for Sub-Saharan Africa. She will officially begin her role in December.
Rochelle Knock’s Background and Expertise
Knock brings a wealth of experience to Disney, previously serving at Yoco Technologies as the Head of Customer Value Management. She has also held senior roles at MultiChoice Group, including Executive Head of Product and Base Management.
Responsibilities in Sub-Saharan Africa
As Country Head, Knock will oversee the growth strategy for Disney’s operations in Sub-Saharan Africa. Her responsibilities include:
- Leading direct-to-consumer initiatives.
- Managing family and factual linear networks.
- Collaborating with the platform distribution team.
- Supporting regional business development in EMEA.
Significance of the Appointment
Simon Amselem, Senior Vice President for Direct-to-Consumer & Networks, remarked on the importance of Knock’s leadership. He stated that her expertise aligns well with Disney’s strategic objectives in the region.
Currently, Disney+ is accessible in South Africa, and the company operates in 40 sub-Saharan countries. Knock expressed her enthusiasm for leading Disney’s team in Africa and collaborating with colleagues across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) to foster long-term growth.
