F-M High School Students Excel in National Scholarship Program

Fayetteville-Manlius High School has celebrated the success of five seniors who have achieved semifinalist status in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. This prestigious program, organized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), recognizes students demonstrating exceptional academic talent and potential for future success in higher education.

Fayetteville-Manlius High School Semifinalists

The following students from F-M are among the nationwide semifinalists:

  • Eleanor Comprix
  • Rheaa Goyal
  • Jade McKinnis
  • David Nagapetov
  • Owen Zhu

These five students are part of a larger group of over 16,000 semifinalists across the country. They qualified for this honor by achieving top scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) in their respective states.

Advancement and Requirements

To move forward in the competition for one of over 6,900 National Merit Scholarships, these semifinalists must fulfill several requirements. They need to maintain an excellent academic record throughout their high school years, secure a recommendation from a high school official, and submit an essay. Furthermore, they must achieve qualifying scores on either the SAT or ACT, which will validate their earlier test performance.

National Merit Scholarship Program Details

The winners of the National Merit Scholarship for 2026 are expected to be announced in the spring or summer of 2026. The NMSC is a non-profit organization that has been operating since 1955. It conducts this annual scholarship program without government funding, relying on its own resources and contributions from around 300 business sponsors, educational institutions, and individual benefactors.
