Chargers Activate Linebackers Mack and Perryman from IR
The Los Angeles Chargers have made significant roster moves by activating linebackers Khalil Mack and Denzel Perryman from injured reserve. This decision allows both players to return to action for their upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Injury Updates for Chargers’ Linebackers
Khalil Mack has been recovering from an elbow injury sustained during the Chargers’ Week 2 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders. The injury occurred when his left hand became trapped during a tackle attempt, resulting in an awkward twist of his elbow.
Meanwhile, Denzel Perryman suffered an ankle injury in the Week 1 match against the Kansas City Chiefs. Both players’ absences created challenges for the Chargers’ defense, particularly in run defense.
Defensive Struggles Without Key Players
Since losing Mack and Perryman, the Chargers’ defense has shown vulnerability. From Week 3 to the present, they have allowed a total of 579 rushing yards, ranking them sixth in the NFL for the most yards surrendered on the ground.
Prior to these injuries, the Chargers had the ninth-fewest rushing yards allowed in the league.
Upcoming Challenge Against the Colts
As the Chargers prepare to face the Colts, they will be up against the league’s leading rusher, Jonathan Taylor. Currently, Taylor has recorded 603 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns this season. He maintains an impressive average of 100.5 rushing yards per game, making him a significant threat to the Chargers’ restructured defense.
