Citywest Riots: Gardaí Urge Youth to Steer Clear as 31 Arrested

Recent riots in Citywest, County Dublin, have led to the arrest of 31 individuals over the past two nights. This unrest has resulted in substantial criminal damage and disrupted local services, particularly public transport in the Saggart and Citywest areas.

Details of the Arrests

Among the arrested, 28 are male, including five teenagers. Additionally, five women have been detained, with 24 individuals now facing charges in court. Four members of An Garda Síochána sustained injuries during the incidents; fortunately, all have received hospital treatment and been discharged.

Gardaí’s Response

The police have emphasized the serious consequences of such reckless behaviors. They have reached out, especially to young men, urging them to stay away from these disturbances. An Garda Síochána stated, “This is not fun and games or entertainment for social media. The choices you make may adversely affect your future.”
