Ferguson’s Books transforms into Fergie’s Bookshops unveiling a new chapter at Daily’s Market

A transformation in the local bookstore scene has taken place in Fargo. Ferguson Books has rebranded itself as Fergie’s Bookshops and moved to a new location within Daily’s Market at 216 Broadway. Owner Dane Ferguson announced the change, following 15 years of service in the community.

New Beginnings at Daily’s Market

The decision to relocate came shortly after a year at Roberts Alley. Ferguson noted that the downtown landscape has changed significantly, impacting customer traffic. “It would’ve been difficult to last another winter where we were,” he remarked.

Fergie’s Bookshops officially opened its doors on October 15, just days after Ferguson Books’ final day on October 11. The new location is expected to boost foot traffic and enhance visibility for the bookstore.

Synergies and Collaborations

The partnership with Daily’s Market offers both businesses the opportunity for greater collaboration. They plan to work together on staffing, cross-promotions, and creating a unique shopping experience.

  • Increased product variety with niche gift items
  • Enhanced customer experience through shared resources

Continuity and Growth

Despite the rebranding, the mission of Fergie’s Bookshops remains unchanged. Ferguson aims to nurture community ties and promote literacy in Fargo. “We want this brand to be a little bit more flexible, more attentive to the needs of communities,” he stated.

The new tagline, “Small shops, big hearts,” reflects their commitment to local connections. Ferguson envisions expanding the brand through partnerships with local businesses and potentially opening additional locations.

Book Selection and Membership Offers

Fergie’s Bookshops promises to retain its beloved book selection. Customers will find beloved titles as they walk in, including dedicated sections for children’s books and nonfiction. The store continues to offer:

  • Weekly new releases
  • A used-book trading program
  • A membership program with discounts and special perks

Community Engagement

Ferguson is passionate about supporting literacy initiatives. He plans to continue hosting “Spirit Nights,” where a portion of sales is donated to local school libraries. The store is also preparing for future events, including plans to merge the bookstore experience with Fergie’s and Frenchie’s Crêperie.

Fergie’s Bookshops aims to inspire a love for reading, especially in children. Ferguson has expressed concerns over declining reading habits. He stressed the importance of engaging families in literacy.
