Amazon Issues Urgent Recall for Life-Threatening Product Sold Nationwide

Amazon has issued a nationwide warning regarding the recall of two potentially dangerous products, as reported by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Consumers are advised to stop using these items immediately.

Urgent Recall Details: Bealife Dressers and Bio Ionic Curling Irons

Shenzhen Quanyuanfa Trading Co. Ltd., operating under the name Bealife, initiated a recall of its 5-Drawer Dressers on October 23, 2023. This recall was prompted by concerns over tip-over and entrapment risks. J & D Brush Co. LLC, based in New York, also announced a recall the same week for its Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Irons, which present a burn hazard to users.

Product Specifications

  • Bealife 5-Drawer Dressers: Approximately 410 units affected; Model Number: AP23-W; Manufactured in Vietnam.
  • Dimensions: 32 inches high, 28 inches wide, and 16 inches deep.
  • Pricing: Sold on Amazon from June 2025 to August 2025 for around $76.
  • Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Iron: Approximately 357,000 units affected; Model Number: LXT-CL-1.0; Date Code: between 0722 and 1223.

Safety Concerns and Implications

The CPSC highlighted that the Bealife dressers do not comply with the mandatory stability standards established by the Stop Tip-overs of Unstable, Risky Dressers on Youth (STURDY) Act. These dressers can tip over if not anchored to a wall, posing serious risks to children.

In regard to the Bio Ionic curling irons, the CPSC reported that the product’s barrel can snap and detach, leading to burn injuries. As of October 23, 2023, there were 158 reports of the barrel detaching, which included six minor burn incidents.

Next Steps for Consumers

  • Bealife Dressers: Customers should stop using the dressers immediately and keep them out of children’s reach. To dispose of the dressers, contact Bealife for guidance. A photo demonstrating the disposal method will be required for a full refund.
  • Bio Ionic Curling Irons: Users are advised to contact Bio Ionic for a free replacement. Participants must cut off the plug and return it using a prepaid shipping label provided by the company.

Conclusion

The CPSC reiterated that federal law bans the sale of items subject to recall. Ongoing efforts are in place to remove hazardous products from the market. Consumers are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any concerns regarding recalled items to ensure safety.
