Both teams entered the game with a 6-1 record and a 2-1 mark in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Vanderbilt’s Strong Start

Pavia’s Pregame Controversy
Complicating matters, Commodores quarterback Diego Pavia stirred controversy by practicing taking a victory knee before the game against Alabama. Saban criticized this behavior, stating that such actions could create unnecessary motivation for opposing teams.
Ultimately, Pavia struggled against Alabama, throwing for only 198 yards along with one touchdown and one interception, leading to a disappointing 17-point loss.
