John Mc Namara of Achill Island Mayo Passes Away – Remembering the Life of a Beloved Twin

John (Twin) McNamara, known for his deep connection to Achill Island, passed away peacefully at the age of 91. He died at his home in Keelwest, Dooagh, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

John was predeceased by several cherished family members including his son Seán, parents Anthony and Catherine, twin brother Pat, and sister Nóra. He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly.

Funeral Arrangements

John’s family announced that he will repose at Lavelle’s Funeral Home in Cashel, Achill. The visitation is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, from 4:30 PM to 7 PM.

The removal will take place from his residence on Sunday morning to St. Patrick’s Church in Pollagh. A requiem mass will be held at 11:30 AM, followed by burial at Slievemore Cemetery.
