Region’s Largest Fair Kicks Off with a Notable Restriction
The Herbstsend in Münster is set to open its doors from October 25 to November 2, 2025. This annual event transforms the Münsteraner Schlossplatz into a vibrant fairground for its final installment of the year. As the largest fair in the Münsterland, it attracts nearly one million visitors each year.
Exciting Attractions at the Herbstsend
This year’s Herbstsend features around 180 exhibitors across a vast festival area of 32,000 square meters. Attendees will enjoy a mix of classic rides and thrilling new attractions over the nine-day event.
Main Attractions
- Gladiator: A towering Propeller-Looping carousel reaching 62 meters, boasting the title of the world’s tallest mobile ride. It offers speeds of up to 90 km/h.
- Piraten-Fluss: A wild water ride filled with 100,000 liters of water, providing an adventurous experience through a pirate-themed world.
- Grand Soleil: A family-friendly Ferris wheel with closed cabins that rises 48 meters high.
- Children’s Rides: Fourteen dedicated attractions for kids, alongside classic rides like bumper cars and the Breakdance.
Safety Measures in Place
In light of safety concerns, the city of Münster has implemented several protective measures for visitors. The fairground is enclosed by a security fence, with four entry points manned by the Municipal Regulatory Service and a hired security team. Visitors can expect thorough bag checks upon entry.

- No large bags or backpacks allowed.
- Prohibited items include glass, weapons, knives, and other dangerous objects.
- No dogs, bicycles, or electric scooters are permitted on the fairground.
Special Events and Operating Hours
This year, the Herbstsend will include themed days featuring fireworks and family events, maintaining its cherished traditional character. However, on All Saints’ Day (November 1), the fair will open later in the evening.
Operating hours vary by day. The event stays open until midnight on Saturdays but closes earlier on Sundays, typically by 10 PM or 11 PM. On the evening of November 1, the fair will have shortened hours from 6 PM to midnight.
Visitor Expectations
Despite the unpredictable weather typical of the season, exhibitors remain optimistic about the turnout. They anticipate around 250,000 visitors eager to experience the lively autumn fair atmosphere enhanced by colorful lights and enticing aromas.
