Medvedev and Khachanov Highlight Key Changes at Paris Masters 2023

Daniil Medvedev and Karen Khachanov have expressed their views on significant changes at the Paris Masters 2023. This year marks the tournament’s relocation from the Bercy Arena to the La Défense Arena after 38 years.

New Venue and Improved Facilities at the Paris Masters

Khachanov, currently ranked 13th in the world, returns to the tournament he won in 2018. In an interview with Tennis Bolshoi, he reflected on the differences, admitting he missed the old court. However, he praised the enhanced facilities at the new venue.

“The Centre Court at the old venue was stunning,” Khachanov stated. “But the organization was lacking for a Masters event.” He highlighted the upgrades, saying, “Now, everything looks luxurious.”

  • New Centre Court capacity: 16,500 spectators
  • Old venue capacity: 15,609 spectators
  • Number of courts at new venue: 5
  • Number of courts at old venue: 3

Medvedev’s Perspective on Changes

Daniil Medvedev mirrored Khachanov’s sentiments regarding the larger facilities. He noted, “More space is always nice for players.” Medvedev observed that the lounge, restaurant, and locker rooms are all bigger at the new venue.

He emphasized the need to adapt to the new environment but acknowledged the benefits of the improved conditions. “Everything feels bigger and better,” Medvedev added.

ATP Finals and Medvedev’s Aspirations

Recently, Medvedev faced a setback when he was defeated by Corentin Moutet in Vienna, complicating his chances of qualifying for the ATP Finals. He is currently ranked 12th in the race for the Finals.
