YouTuber Mr Crafty Pants Arrested for Child Sexual Image Possession

A popular YouTuber, known as Mr. Crafty Pants, has been arrested in Kentucky for accusations of possessing and distributing child sexual images. Michael David Booth, aged 39, gained popularity on social media platforms, amassing over 500,000 YouTube subscribers and a substantial following on Facebook and Instagram for his DIY craft videos.

Details of the Arrest

On Wednesday, Booth was apprehended after police revealed that he allegedly shared disturbing images via the Kik messaging app. Reports indicate that he possessed six explicit photos: three featuring children under the age of 12 and three depicting teenagers.

Distribution of Images

  • Images involving children were shared at least 12 times.
  • Teen images were distributed at least 15 times.

The reports suggest that the illicit content was sent from Booth’s Kik account between August 5 and August 7. A subsequent investigation obtained a search warrant for Booth’s Kik account, which allegedly revealed “selfie-type” photos connecting him to the account.

Neighborhood Response

Booth’s arrest has left his quiet suburban neighborhood in Prospect, near Louisville, feeling unsettled. Residents reported a significant police presence during the arrest, with one neighbor, Laura Nash, expressing shock and concern at the unfolding events.

Another neighbor, Lindsay Smart, reflected on the disturbing nature of the situation, especially in contrast to Booth’s friendly exterior, which included a Halloween sign in his yard stating, “I smell children.”

Legal Proceedings

Following his arrest, Booth faced at least 20 charges related to distributing materials depicting sexual performances by minors. He appeared in Jefferson County District Court, where the judge set his bond at $100,000 in cash. Additionally, he was ordered to have no contact with minors and to refrain from using the Internet or social media.

Booth has entered a plea of not guilty to all charges against him.
