In a significant law enforcement operation in Rio de Janeiro, armed men have fled Vila Cruzeiro. This neighborhood is known as a stronghold for criminal factions, particularly the Comando Vermelho (CV). The primary target of this operation is Edgard Alves de Andrade, alias “Doca,” a key leader of the CV.

The operation is the largest of its kind in Rio de Janeiro’s history, utilizing extensive resources and manpower. It has already led to the arrest of 81 individuals, including prominent CV leaders from other states.

Special forces and various police units, including the CORE (Coordinadoria de Recursos Especiais) and the Department of Combating Money Laundering, are actively involved. Governor Claudio Castro confirmed this extensive operation during a press conference, stating it involved rigorous training over two months, showcasing the government’s commitment to tackling organized crime.
