Keion White a Healthy Scratch as Patriots Face Browns Before Trade Deadline
The New England Patriots are set to face the Cleveland Browns in Week 8, but not without some notable absences. Seven players, including edge defender Keion White, will not participate in the game.
Keion White: A Healthy Scratch
Keion White, who entered the weekend without any injury designation, has been categorized as one of six healthy scratches for the match. This decision marks another setback in a challenging season for the third-year player.
Initially, White was expected to start opposite Harold Landry during the training camp. However, he lost his starting role to free agent acquisition K’Lavon Chaisson, limiting his playtime this season. So far, White has featured in five of the Patriots’ seven games but has yet to register a sack and has only achieved three quarterback pressures.
Injury Updates and Coaching Insights
This season, White has missed games due to both an illness and an elbow injury. Outside linebackers coach Mike Smith recently addressed these challenges: “It’s tough when you miss that amount of games and practices. For him, it’s just about continuing to learn the position and staying healthy.”
With the NFL trade deadline looming on November 4, White’s situation remains one to monitor. The Patriots have shown a willingness to make changes to strengthen their defensive edge.
Patriots’ Inactive Roster
In addition to Keion White, several players will not be on the field against the Browns:
- Kyle Dugger – Questionable (knee injury)
- Efton Chism – Healthy scratch, former kickoff returner
- Caleb Murphy – Healthy scratch, recent waiver acquisition
Browns’ Injury Report
The Cleveland Browns will also have key players unavailable. Two players, Shedeur Sanders (back) and Adin Huntington (concussion), are ruled out. Meanwhile, tight end David Njoku will play despite a knee injury.
The showdown is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium. With both teams managing injury concerns and player availability, it remains to be seen how the rosters will impact the outcome of the game.
