Snack Recall: Popular Treat Pulled from Costco, Sam’s Club Nationwide

Significant concerns have arisen over food safety as a popular snack is being recalled. More than 2 million pounds of Korean barbecue pork jerky have been pulled from Costco and Sam’s Club stores across the nation. The recall is primarily due to potential contamination with metal fragments.

Recall Details of Korean Barbecue Pork Jerky

LSI Inc., a company based in South Dakota, initiated the recall of its product labeled Golden Island Fire-Grilled Pork Jerky Korean Barbecue Recipe. Multiple consumers reported finding metallic pieces in the jerky, prompting action from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Source of Contamination

The contamination is believed to have originated from the conveyor belt used during production. The FSIS has warned that while there have been no confirmed injuries from consuming the jerky, consumers who have concerns are encouraged to consult their healthcare providers.

Product Information

The affected jerky products have a shelf-life of one year, with “best by” dates between October 23, 2025, and September 23, 2026. These dates are printed on the side of the packaging.

  • Product Sizes: Available in 14.5-ounce and 16-ounce plastic pouches.
  • Establishment Number: “M279A” located within the USDA mark of inspection.

Both Costco and Sam’s Club have been notified, and the companies are cooperating with the recall procedure. As the concerns regarding food safety persist, consumers are urged to monitor any updates related to this recall.
