He admitted to having a “negativity bias,” suggesting he is not overly optimistic about the prospects of The Penguin Season 2. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that “the powers that be” are developing compelling storylines that could warrant further episodes.

Connection Between The Penguin and The Batman II

Farrell also highlighted the link between The Penguin and the forthcoming The Batman Part II. He mentioned that the events set in motion by the death in The Batman created a significant power vacuum in Gotham. This chaos allows Oz the opportunity to further his ambitions.

According to Farrell, “It conveniently worked that the death at the end of The Batman opened up a power vacuum.” He believes these plot developments fit seamlessly into the narrative structure of the series, with The Batman Part II expected to pick up shortly after The Penguin concludes.

Future of The Batman Franchise

The Batman Part II is projected to start filming in spring 2024, aiming for a release date of October 1, 2027. Director Matt Reeves has indicated his desire to explore more storylines within his Batman universe. In September, he stated that while his primary focus remains on The Batman Part II, he is open to discussing a potential second season of The Penguin once production is underway.
