Details of the Incident

On the evening of the incident, around 8:45 p.m., Craven County Sheriff’s Deputy was stabbed in the leg during a struggle with Connelly at the restaurant located at 380 Highway 43. Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene, prompting an extensive manhunt.

Manhunt Underway

In response to the stabbing and the ongoing search for Connelly, authorities have established a command post in Vanceboro. The operation involves:

The search for Connelly is linked to the death of his 72-year-old grandmother, Patricia Lopedote, discovered in her home on Highway 101, near Havelock. Authorities responded to a fire at her residence last Saturday, which ultimately led to the grim discovery of her body.

Vehicle Found

Connelly’s connection to the case deepened when Lopedote’s missing vehicle was located on Monday. It was found parked on Pine Tree Drive in New Bern, close to local baseball fields.
