Grandson Sought for Murder After Craven County Fire Kills 72-Year-Old Woman
The Craven County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 24-year-old Dominic Liam Connelly. He is wanted for the murder of his grandmother, Patricia Lopedote, aged 72. The tragic incident took place following a fire at Lopedote’s home in Havelock, North Carolina, on October 25.
Incident Details
Patricia Lopedote was discovered deceased after the structure fire destroyed her residence. Subsequent investigations identified her grandson, Dominic Connelly, as the prime suspect.
Charges Filed
Connelly faces several serious charges, including:
- Murder
- First-degree arson
- Larceny of a motor vehicle
Authorities reported that Lopedote’s vehicle was initially missing but was found unoccupied in a parking lot on Pine Tree Drive in New Bern on October 28.
Law Enforcement Actions
A warrant for Connelly’s arrest has been issued. The Sheriff’s Office has warned that individuals who assist him in evading capture will also face criminal charges.
