Western Celestial Phenomena Revealed

In a historic moment for the region, the Celta Vigo football team will visit the western Asturian area, specifically Puerto de Vega and Navia, to compete in the Copa del Rey. This marks the first time a Primera División team, which also plays in the UEFA Europa League, faces an opponent from this locality.

New Supporters’ Club Established

A new supporters’ club named Peña Celtista de Avilés Gochu Astur-Celta is set to be inaugurated on this occasion. Galo Martínez and David ‘Deivid’ Fernández, leading figures behind the formation, expressed their excitement about welcoming the team. They have prepared flags, merchandise, and are currently in the registration process for the club.

Background of the Founders

Both Galo and Deivid share a similar background, having spent time in the A Mariña region, including Burela and San Cibrao. Their enthusiasm for Celta Vigo grew during their years as residents there, despite the local inclination towards Deportivo La Coruña. Galo noted that about one in four fans in the area support Celta.

Event Preparations

  • The small group of four members aims to expand with more fans joining for the upcoming match.
  • They plan to receive the team at Hotel Blanco and accompany them throughout the day.
  • Deivid has local connections and gathered information about the match, including ticket availability.

Approximately 300 tickets remain for the match, indicating strong local interest. The match venue is well-prepared, with natural grass and maintenance by local workers evident when Deivid visited.

Excitement for the Match

The match will take place in Navia, situated less than ten kilometers from Puerto de Vega. Galo remarked on the significance of hosting a high-profile team, emphasizing it as a special event for local fans.

Future Plans

Despite the distance from their home ground in Vigo, Galo and Deivid intend to attend several matches at Balaídos this season, estimated between eight to ten games. They also plan to support their team during the encounter against Oviedo, hoping to assist traveling fans.

As the inauguration of Peña Celtista de Avilés Gochu Astur-Celta approaches, the fervor for Celta Vigo continues to strengthen in the northeastern part of Galicia and western Asturias, celebrating the friendships and passions that accompany the love for football.
