                                A manhunt is currently in progress in eastern North Carolina for a murder suspect who attacked a deputy with a knife. The Craven County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for 24-year-old Dominic Liam Connelly in connection with the death of his grandmother, Patricia Lopedote.
Incident Details
The confrontation occurred at a Bojangles in Vanceboro on October 29. Authorities received reports of Connelly’s possible sighting at the restaurant. Upon their arrival, he assaulted a deputy using a knife before fleeing the scene.

This violent act prompted a Blue Alert, indicating an attack on a law enforcement officer. Sheriff Chip Hughes expressed confidence that Connelly would be in custody shortly, as search teams utilize drones and K-9 units in their efforts.

Connelly was identified as a suspect in his grandmother’s death after her body was discovered in her burned home in Havelock on October 25. Lopedote’s vehicle, which had been missing, was located on October 28 in a parking lot in New Bern.
