Dolphins Suffer Another Player Loss, Updates on Tua’s Eye Injury

The Miami Dolphins experienced significant player losses following their recent game against the Atlanta Falcons. The team’s head coach, Mike McDaniel, addressed these issues, focusing on Tua Tagovailoa’s eye injury and the severe injury sustained by cornerback Storm Duck.
Dolphins Face Adversity with Tua’s Eye Injury
Tua Tagovailoa dealt with a minor eye issue during the Dolphins’ victory over the Falcons. Waking up with a swollen left eye, Tagovailoa wore a visor during the game. Coach McDaniel reassured the media that the injury was not a major concern, describing it as simply a “blip on my radar.”
Tagovailoa mentioned he may again wear the visor in their upcoming game against the Baltimore Ravens, as his teammates found it “swaggy.”
Storm Duck’s Season-Ending Injury
The Dolphins’ victory was overshadowed by a more serious injury when cornerback Storm Duck was carted off the field in the fourth quarter. His difficulties came while covering tight end Kyle Pitts, leading to a season-ending knee injury. Coach McDaniel confirmed that Duck’s injury capped off a frustrating season, having already missed significant time earlier due to an ankle injury sustained in the season opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
Potential Replacements for Duck
- Isaiah Johnson
- Kendall Sheffield
The Dolphins may turn to their practice squad for replacements, selecting from either Isaiah Johnson or Kendall Sheffield, who has been elevated for the last two games.
Additional Injury Updates for the Dolphins
Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick also faced a thumb injury late in the fourth quarter. McDaniel indicated that Fitzpatrick could have returned had the game’s outcome not been determined. Another safety, Ashtyn Davis, is day-to-day after suffering a quad injury during the game.
Wide receiver Dee Eskridge is in a similar situation, also listed as day-to-day due to a shoulder injury. The short week ahead complicates matters for the Dolphins as they prepare for a Thursday night matchup against the Ravens.
Injured Reserve Updates
- Kicker: Jason Sanders
- Offensive Linemen:
- James Daniels
- Austin Jackson
- Andrew Meyer
- Liam Eichenberg

The Dolphins currently have five players on injured reserve or the physically unable to perform list (PUP), including kicker Jason Sanders and four offensive linemen. Neither Andrew Meyer nor Liam Eichenberg has played this season, while Daniels and Jackson were sidelined after injuries in the season opener.
As the Dolphins navigate these injury challenges, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the team adapts in upcoming games.
