Nevada Day Celebrations: Family Fun, Office Closures Statewide
 
                                Nevada Day, celebrated on October 31, recognizes the state’s admission to the Union and its 161st birthday as the 36th state. This year, the holiday coincides with the actual date of October 31.
Nevada Day Observations
The last Friday of October marks Nevada Day each year. On this day, state, county, and city offices are closed. Public schools in Clark and Washoe counties also do not hold classes.
Important Services
- Mail delivery remains unaffected and continues as scheduled.
- In Carson City, special pictorial postmarks will be available at the Post Office during normal business hours.
Celebratory Events
The Vegas Golden Knights are hosting a matinee game to celebrate Nevada Day. Fans can watch the game against the Colorado Avalanche at T-Mobile Arena, starting at 1 p.m. Supporters are encouraged to wear white or Halloween costumes, though inappropriate outfits may be denied entry.
Players will autograph specially designed jerseys featuring a Nevada Day logo that pays tribute to Las Vegas’ artistic heritage. The jerseys will be available for auction, and interested participants can visit e.givesmart.com.
Family Activities
- The Nevada State Museum at Springs Preserve offers state-themed activities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
- The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City provides free train rides for children aged 17 and younger throughout the weekend. Adult tickets cost $12.
- Families can enjoy games and crafts at Ice Age Fossils State Park in North Las Vegas from 9 a.m. to noon. The entry fee is $3 per person.
