Travis Hunter Placed on IR Due to Non-Contact Knee Injury

Jaguars wide receiver and defensive back Travis Hunter has been diagnosed with a non-contact knee injury sustained during practice. As a result, he will be placed on injured reserve, according to head coach Liam Coen.
Injury Details
At a press conference, Coen revealed that Hunter will miss at least four games. The team is currently evaluating the injury to determine the appropriate next steps for both Hunter and the Jaguars.
“We’re still assessing,” Coen stated. He expressed uncertainty about whether Hunter will return this season. “We haven’t gotten all of the information. This just kind of got going last night,” he explained.
Player Statistics
Travis Hunter was the No. 2 overall pick in the recent draft. His performance this season includes:
- 28 receptions
- 298 receiving yards
- 1 touchdown
- 15 total tackles
- 3 passes defended
Hunter has participated in 67% of offensive snaps, 35% of defensive snaps, and 2% of special teams snaps. He recently achieved his best season performance, catching eight passes for 101 yards and scoring his first career touchdown against the Rams.
Coach’s Perspective
Coen shared his thoughts on the timing of the injury, noting it is never a good time for a player to be sidelined. “Definitely not ideal timing — not that any injury is ideal timing,” he said. He maintains faith in Hunter’s character and competitiveness.
“He’s in good spirits right now,” Coen added. “It’s a minor setback for a major comeback. That’s just the way it’s got to be.”
