Government Shutdown Day 31: SNAP Benefits Expire This Weekend

Public tours of the White House will resume in December, following a hiatus due to renovations in the East Wing. These changes are part of a larger project initiated during President Donald Trump’s administration that aimed to create a new ballroom.

New Tour Features for December

The revised tour will incorporate an updated route. Visitors can look forward to experiencing the White House adorned with festive Christmas decorations throughout December. These decorations will be curated by First Lady Melania Trump, showcasing the spirit of the holiday season.

Details of the New Tour Route

Historically, tours began in the East Wing, leading visitors through various significant areas. However, with the East Wing’s demolition, the new starting point for tours has not yet been specified.

  • Restored access will cover only one floor of the White House.
  • Key areas included in the new route: Cross Hall, East Room, Green Room, Blue Room, Red Room, and State Dining Room.

Notably absent from the tour will be several historic rooms located on the ground floor. These include:

  • The Library
  • The Vermeil Room
  • The China Room
  • The Diplomatic Reception Room

Some of these historic spaces are now functioning as offices for the First Lady’s staff, who have been relocated due to the ongoing renovations. Tours were temporarily suspended on September 1 to facilitate these updates.

As the holiday season approaches, visitors will have the chance to enjoy the joyful ambiance created by the White House’s holiday decorations, part of a cherished annual tradition.
