Former Brighton & Hove Albion technical director David Weir has been appointed as the new sporting director of Chelsea’s affiliate club, Racing Club de Strasbourg. The announcement was made on October 31, 2025, marking a transition for Weir after his departure from Brighton earlier that month.

Weir, who served Brighton for seven years, expressed enthusiasm about joining Strasbourg. He noted the club’s historic significance and its growing ambitions. “I was convinced by the project and the quality of the people already in place,” he stated.
