Kurt Hester passed away at the age of 61 after a courageous nine-month battle with Stage IV melanoma. From 2013 to 2021, Hester was instrumental in shaping the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs’ athletic programs. His leadership contributed to the team’s impressive seven consecutive bowl appearances under former head coach Skip Holtz.

During the press conference, Cumbie reflected on Hester’s lasting influence on players and coaches alike. He noted that many current athletes and coaches benefited from Hester’s training methods.
