Drunk driver found asleep in drive-thru by police
A 25-year-old man faces charges after being discovered asleep in his car at a McDonald’s drive-thru. The incident occurred in Dandenong, Melbourne, around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Incident Details
Authorities were alerted to the scene located at the intersection of Cheltenham Service Road and Bennett Street. Upon arrival, police found the man asleep in the driver’s seat of a Toyota Camry. Notably, he still had the keys in the ignition.
Breath Test Results
Upon being awakened by officers, the driver was subjected to a breath test. He recorded an alarming blood alcohol content of 0.158, which is more than three times the legal limit in Australia.
Additional Findings
During their investigation, police discovered empty bottles and casks of wine in the back seat of the vehicle. Further inquiries revealed that the driver, hailing from Dingley Village, had never held a driver’s license.
Pending Charges
The man is expected to face multiple charges, including drink-driving and other driving-related offenses. He was also arrested due to outstanding matters unrelated to this incident.
