Exciting Truck-Themed Event Offers Treats and Fun
The Truck or Treat Halloween event, hosted by Northwestern University and the Central Street Consortium, brought excitement to local families in Evanston. This year marked the second consecutive celebration at the site of the new Ryan Field, scheduled to open next year.
Community Fun and Family Activities
Families gathered to enjoy a range of activities designed for all ages. Children were delighted to interact with real-life construction vehicles, including excavators and diggers. Many attended in imaginative costumes, portraying characters from Care Bears to princesses.
Costume Contest Highlights
The event featured a popular costume contest, where prizes were awarded in various categories:
- Best Construction Worker
- Best Evanston Pride
- Best Northwestern Fan
- Best Baby Costume
In addition to fun activities, attendees enjoyed face painting and yard games. Willie the Wildcat made a special appearance, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
Community Involvement
Twenty-two local partners contributed to the success of the Truck or Treat event. They provided candy, costumes, and showcased Evanston’s iconic purple fire truck. This collaboration emphasizes the community-oriented mission of the event and highlights Northwestern’s commitment to engaging with local families.
