Sonic Booms from SpaceX Could Surprise Brevard County Early Sunday Morning
Sonic booms associated with a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket booster will resonate in Brevard County early Sunday morning, November 2. The Falcon 9 is set to launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station during the Bandwagon-4 mission.
Launch Details
The launch window for SpaceX’s Bandwagon-4 mission will be open from 1:00 a.m. until 2:03 a.m. Residents can expect sonic booms around eight minutes after launch as the rocket descends toward its landing zone.
Previous Missions
- The Falcon 9’s first-stage boosters generated sonic booms during the April 21 Bandwagon-3 mission.
- Bandwagon-3 included payloads from several companies: ADD’s 425Sat-3, Tomorrow Companies Inc.’s Tomorrow-S7, and Atmos Space Cargo’s PHOENIX re-entry capsule.
Launch Sites and Landing
The Falcon 9 will take off from Launch Complex 40. The designated landing area, Landing Zone 2, is situated north of Cape Canaveral Lighthouse and near Blue Origin’s facilities.
Future Launches
Looking ahead, another Falcon 9 mission is scheduled for Wednesday, November 5. This flight will deliver Starlink broadband satellites to low-Earth orbit, with a launch window from 7:08 p.m. to 11:51 p.m.
Additional Information
During the same period, a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket will carry a Viasat communications satellite. Its launch window opens at 10:24 p.m. from Launch Complex 41.
SpaceX Rideshare Opportunities
SpaceX’s Bandwagon missions are designed to transport small satellites for various ventures. Costs for these rideshare launches start at around $325,000 for a 50-kilogram payload to sun-synchronous polar orbits.
