Disney has unveiled its first Storyliving by Disney community, Cotino, located in Rancho Mirage, California. This project, currently under construction, aims to create a unique living experience infused with the spirit of Disney. Nestled in the Coachella Valley, this community is situated near Walt Disney’s former vacation home, bringing a touch of nostalgia to its residents.
Overview of Cotino Community
Cotino covers an expansive 618 acres and features 1,932 residential units, including single-family homes and condominiums. The development is located at the intersection of Monterey Avenue and Gerald Ford Drive. Presently, only a few homes are available for occupancy, but the initial phase includes 300 homes built by Shea Homes, Davidson Communities, and Woodbridge Pacific Group.
Design and Amenities
The homes reflect midcentury modern design, resonant with the Palm Springs aesthetic, yet they include modern luxury finishes. Key features include:
- Open floor plans with expansive kitchens
- Floor-to-ceiling glass doors leading to outdoor spaces
- Accessory Dwelling Units, offering additional one-bedroom apartments

The Artisan Club
A central aspect of Cotino is the Artisan Club, which requires a $20,000 initiation fee and yearly dues of $11,000 for residents and their immediate families. Membership provides exclusive access to:

- A 24-acre lagoon developed by Crystal Lagoons

This year will also see the opening of a public town center across Cotino Bay from the Artisan Club. This town center will feature:
