115 Reasons for Man City Fans to Celebrate This Weekend
Manchester City fans are gearing up for a significant weekend of celebrations as both the men’s and women’s teams play at home. This showcases a vibrant atmosphere around the club and its supporters.
115 Reasons for Man City Fans to Celebrate This Weekend
In a special initiative, the MCFC Fans Foodbank Support (MCFC FFS) will reach its 115th food collection during this weekend’s matches. Founded in 2020, this group works independently from the club to assist the local community through football fandom.
Community Support Initiatives
MCFC FFS operates by collecting donations from fans at the Etihad Stadium and Joie Stadium on matchdays. Over the past five years, City supporters have emerged as the largest contributors to the Manchester Central Foodbank.
- Over 12 tonnes of food donations
- More than £30,000 raised
- Countless meals provided to vulnerable community members
Despite the increasing need for foodbanks highlighting social issues, the dedication of volunteers and supporters remains commendable. The generosity of Manchester City fans continues to shine even amid the club’s ongoing financial allegations.
Voices from the Community
Alex Timperley, a member and volunteer of MCFC FFS, expressed hopes for a memorable weekend. He noted that the association of ‘115’ often carries a negative connotation, but this weekend focuses on positive contributions.
“This is not just charity; it’s solidarity,” Timperley stated, emphasizing that every donated meal signifies a supporter’s belief in the dignity of others. He also highlighted the unmatched community feel at these games and the overwhelming generosity of fans.
Match Schedule
During this celebratory weekend, City Women will face West Ham at noon on Saturday, followed by the men’s match against Bournemouth on Sunday at 4:30 PM.
Donation Collections
Fans can participate in the collection efforts outside the North West turnstile of the Joie Stadium before the women’s game and at Sir Howard Bernstein Way, near Asda, before the men’s match.
This weekend reflects not only a celebration of football but also the spirit of community support fostered by Manchester City fans.
