Bills’ CB Johnson Questionable; Three Players Ruled Out
In a challenging season, the Buffalo Bills have added to their injury woes as starting nickel cornerback Taron Johnson is now questionable for their upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Johnson was limited during practice due to a groin injury.
Bills’ Defense Facing Major Injuries
The Bills are entering a critical matchup against the Chiefs on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. They will be without several key defensive players. Ed Oliver, one of the team’s starting defensive tackles, is out indefinitely due to a left biceps injury, while DaQuan Jones has been ruled out for the third consecutive game with a left calf injury.
Additional Defensive Setbacks
- Linebacker Shaq Thompson is also unavailable due to a hamstring issue.
- His injury has been described as lingering and re-emerged during practice.
The primary backup for Taron Johnson is veteran Cam Lewis, who will step up if Johnson cannot play.
Offensive Injury Updates
On the offensive side, wide receiver Joshua Palmer has also been ruled out due to knee and ankle issues. However, there is some positive news as both starting linebacker Terrel Bernard and Matt Milano participated fully in practice this week and carry no injury designation for the game.
Special Teams and Safety Position Review
Kicker Matt Prater is set to play after being limited in practice with a right calf injury. Additionally, starting safety Taylor Rapp is likely facing the end of the season after undergoing surgery last week for a knee injury that originated in training camp. Coach Sean McDermott has not confirmed Rapp’s season status but acknowledged it appears dire.
In Rapp’s absence, veteran Jordan Poyer has stepped up to take on starting snaps. Rookie Jordan Hancock is also expected to contribute on certain third-down situations.
