Ole Miss football has received notable recognition with both Diego Pounds and Winston Watkins earning SEC weekly honors. The announcement was made by the Southeastern Conference on Monday morning.

Securing Weekly Honors

Senior left tackle Diego Pounds was named Offensive Lineman of the Week. He played a crucial role in Ole Miss’s recent victory over No. 11 Oklahoma, helping the team achieve 431 offensive yards. This ranked road win ended with a score of 34-26.

Pounds and the offensive line displayed remarkable performance, allowing only one sack. This marked the eighth sack allowed by Ole Miss this season. As the season progresses, the Rebels’ offensive line is currently recognized as the best in the SEC, maintaining a pressure rate of 21.8 percent according to Pro Football Focus.

Outstanding Freshman Performance

Freshman wide receiver Winston Watkins was awarded Freshman of the Week. He had a standout game against the Sooners, registering 111 yards on just four receptions. This marks the highest receiving yardage for an Ole Miss freshman since Elijah Moore had 129 yards against South Carolina in 2018.

Watkins played a pivotal role in the game, making two crucial 40-yard receptions on consecutive drives, which propelled Ole Miss deep into Oklahoma’s territory.
