Takashi Yamazaki Reveals Title for ‘Minus One’ Sequel: ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’
This year marked an exciting chapter for fans of the Godzilla franchise. Takashi Yamazaki, the acclaimed director and screenwriter of “Godzilla Minus One,” is set to take the helm once again for a new film. During Godzilla Fest 2025, held on Godzilla Day at Tokyo’s Kanadevia Hall, the title of the upcoming sequel was unveiled: “Godzilla Minus Zero.”
Unveiling of ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’
The reveal was accompanied by the official logo, personally designed by Yamazaki. While details regarding the narrative remain sparse, the title hints at a significant connection to the franchise’s history. “Godzilla Minus One,” the predecessor, explored events prior to the original 1954 film.
The official announcement offered little more, stating, “Stay tuned for further updates.” Questions arise whether this new installment could reimagine the classic storyline.

“Godzilla Minus One,” released earlier this year, achieved remarkable success, becoming the 30th live-action film in the series. Furthermore, it made history as the first film in the franchise to win an Academy Award, claiming the Oscar for Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards.
