Sylvan Adams Donates $100M to Rebuild Iranian Missile-Damaged Israeli Hospital

Canadian-Israeli entrepreneur Sylvan Adams has pledged $100 million to reconstruct an Israeli hospital that was severely damaged by an Iranian missile in June. This declaration was made during an Israeli Cabinet meeting and marks a significant commitment to healthcare in the region.

Soroka University Medical Center: A Targeted Facility

The Soroka University Medical Center, located in Beersheba, Israel, serves the Negev desert area. On June 19, during a 12-day conflict with Iran, the hospital was hit by a missile, resulting in extensive damage.

A Vision for Recovery

Adams emphasized a positive response to the situation, stating, “Our answer to Iran is to build back bigger and better.” He envisions the construction of a modern hospital that will become one of the most advanced medical facilities in the Middle East.

Investment in Healthcare

This donation is a part of a larger initiative aimed at enhancing the healthcare infrastructure in southern Israel. The total investment for the initiative is approximately 1 billion shekels, equal to $300 million.

  • The funding will be shared equally among:
    • Sylvan Adams’ donation
    • The Israeli government
    • Clalit Health Services, an Israeli health insurer

Adams’ Broader Contributions

Adams has a history of supporting various causes in Israel, particularly in sports, medicine, and education. He is notably the co-owner of the Israel Premier Tech cycling team, which recently underwent a rebranding after facing challenges related to political protests.

Following these events, Adams announced he would step back from an active role within the team. His commitment to rebuilding the Soroka University Medical Center illustrates his dedication to improving healthcare services in Israel despite the ongoing geopolitical tensions.
