Dublin Residents Urged to Submit Essential Form to Avoid €3,000 Penalty
With a looming deadline, Dublin residents are urged to take immediate action regarding their Local Property Tax (LPT) returns. Property owners across Ireland need to be aware of significant potential fines if they fail to comply.
Dublin Residents Face €3,000 Penalty for Late LPT Submission
More than one million property owners have yet to submit their Local Property Tax returns. The deadline to file is November 7, 2025. Neglecting this requirement could result in penalties of up to €3,000.
Essential Steps for Property Owners
To avoid fines, property owners must complete the following steps:
- Determine the valuation band of their property as of November 1, 2025.
- Submit the LPT Return, including the valuation band, by November 7, 2025.
- Pay the LPT charge for 2026 or set up a payment arrangement.
Katie Clair, Manager of Revenue’s LPT Branch, reported that over 550,000 returns have been filed as of the latest update. She emphasized the need for property owners to act promptly if they haven’t submitted their returns yet.
Payment Options and Filing Processes
Revenue has made it straightforward to file LPT returns through the LPT portal, accessible via myAccount or Revenue Online Service (ROS). They are continuously monitoring the filing system to ensure it functions correctly.
Recent technical issues with the portal have been addressed, and an update has been successfully deployed. Since the fix, almost 10,000 returns have been processed through the LPT portal.
In case of further difficulties, property owners are encouraged to contact Revenue’s LPT helpline at 01 738 3626 for assistance. Clair reassured taxpayers that the agency is committed to ensuring a smooth filing process as the deadline approaches.
If you are a Dublin resident, ensure you complete your LPT return to avoid penalties. Act now to stay compliant and avoid the hefty €3,000 fine.
