The incidents began on Saturday evening around 10 p.m., when gunfire erupted near Kissing Alley, close to The Square and the historic Hays County Courthouse.

Details of the Shootings

  • First Shooting: Occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday. Three individuals were shot and transported to local hospitals. One victim later succumbed to injuries.
  • Second Incident: At approximately 1:25 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a report of a fight morphing into a shooting at The Outpost apartment complex on Post Road. One person was injured but taken to the hospital by friends.
  • Third Shooting: Shortly after 1:50 a.m., officers were near the site of the first shooting when they responded to multiple gunshots on North LBJ Drive. A suspect, Eliezer Johnson Hernandez, 20, was apprehended

Suspects and Investigation

San Marcos police are currently searching for two suspects connected to the initial shooting. Descriptions provided indicate:

  • One suspect wore a black hoodie with white lettering, dark pants, and dark shoes.
  • The second suspect donned a two-tone black and light gray jacket, dark pants, and a beanie.

Authorities believe the suspects may have left the scene in a four-door silver or gray Audi A3. They are appealing to the public for any information related to the suspects or the shootings.

Public Safety Response

In light of the violence, police Chief Stan Standridge mandated the closure of all downtown bars around 1:15 a.m. Sunday. This decision aimed to ensure the safety of attendees following the shootings.

As of Sunday afternoon, no arrests had been made in connection with the initial shooting. Although officers found significant evidence, including shell casings and blood at the second shooting location, they maintain that the incidents were not interconnected.
