Huskies Launch 2025-26 Season Monday at UConn’s Gampel Pavilion
                                The UConn men’s basketball team, ranked fourth nationally, is set to commence the 2025-26 season on Monday evening. The Huskies will host the New Haven Chargers at Gampel Pavilion. This matchup marks the start of UConn’s 123rd season and the eighth under head coach Dan Hurley.
2025-26 Season Overview
UConn enters the new season with momentum, having achieved five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. The team is again placed in the preseason Top 10, a status they have maintained for three straight years.

During their exhibition games, UConn showcased their prowess, defeating Boston College 71-52 and claiming a 77-69 victory over No. 22 Michigan State.
Challenge of the Non-League Schedule
This season features one of the toughest non-conference schedules, with UConn preparing to face six high-major opponents. Five of these are ranked in the Preseason AP Top 25.
Returning Talent
The Huskies bring back nearly 60% of their scoring from the previous season, including key players such as:
- Solo Ball: A Preseason First Team All-BIG EAST player, averaged 14.4 points last season.
 - Alex Karaban: An All-America candidate, known for his strong performance with averages of 14.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. Featured on multiple award watch lists.
 - Tarris Reed Jr.: Recognized for his rebounding skills, awarded BIG EAST Sixth Man of the Year.
 
Additionally, Jayden Ross and Jaylin Stewart, both part of the 2024 national championship team, will contribute this season.
New Additions to the Roster
UConn has welcomed ten newcomers, including:
- Silas Demary Jr.: A transfer from Georgia who averaged over 13 points per game.
 - Malachi Smith: Formerly of Dayton, averaged 10.4 points and 5.3 assists last season.
 - Braylon Mullins: A McDonald’s All-American who debuted strongly in exhibitions.
 
Other newcomers include Rrezon Elezaj, Jacob Furphy, Jacob Ross, and Dwayne Koroma, who is expected to strengthen the frontcourt.
New Haven Chargers’ Debut
The New Haven Chargers will make their Division 1 debut against UConn. They recently joined the Northeast Conference and are coming off a 12-17 season within the Northeast-10. Head coach Ted Hotaling is entering his 15th season at the helm of the Chargers.
