Ireland Weather Alert: Met Éireann Announces Status Yellow Rain Warning for Six Counties with Potential Flooding Risk
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for six counties in Ireland due to anticipated heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding. The warning will be in effect from midnight tonight until midday on Tuesday.
Counties Affected by the Rain Warning
- Waterford
 - Wexford
 - Wicklow
 - Carlow
 - Cork
 - Kilkenny

This alert comes as the national forecaster predicts downpours from the west, potentially causing local flooding, difficult travel conditions, and reduced visibility.
Recent Weather Updates
Earlier today, four counties in the west—Clare, Kerry, Galway, and Mayo—were under a similar rain warning. This advisory was active from 8 PM on Sunday until 8 PM on Monday.
Heavy rain impacted the western half of the country, generating dull and blustery conditions today, with ongoing risks of localized flooding.
Weather Forecast for the Coming Days
As night falls, rain showers will persist in Munster and parts of south Leinster, while drier and clearer weather will prevail in other regions. Expect temperatures to drop between 10°C and 14°C.
Tomorrow’s forecast indicates rain moving northward across the country throughout the morning and afternoon. The rain is projected to clear towards the northeast by evening, leading to scattered showers.
Temperature Projections
On Tuesday, some areas may see temperatures rise to 16°C. Winds are expected to ease later in the day.
As the week progresses, meteorologist Aoife Kealy from Met Éireann has noted that the unsettled weather conditions will persist. Residents should prepare for frequent spells of wet and blustery weather, although temperatures will remain relatively mild.
