2025 Election Day: Your Essential Voter Guide

The upcoming Election Day on November 4, 2025, will see voters in Tompkins County approach the polls. They will have the opportunity to choose new representatives for both the Tompkins County Legislature and various municipal bodies, including the Ithaca Common Council. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Your Essential Voter Guide for 2025

In addition to local elections, a significant statewide ballot measure will be voted on. This measure concerns the development of ski trails on state-owned land in the Adirondacks.

Statewide Ballot Measure

  • Proposal 1: Amendment to Allow Olympic Sports Complex construction in Essex County on State Forest Preserve Land.

This proposed amendment seeks to permit the construction of additional ski trails within the Adirondack Park near Lake Placid. The ski trails are to be part of the Mt. Van Hoevenburg Olympic Sports Complex, a venue used during the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games.

If passed, this amendment will also entail the addition of approximately 2,500 acres to the Adirondack Park to offset the impact on 323 acres from the new ski trails. Although this project does not directly affect Tompkins County, it appears on local ballots because it requires a constitutional amendment.
