Wake County: 13 Municipalities Hold Elections on Tuesday, November 4

On Tuesday, November 4, 13 municipalities in Wake County will experience key local elections. Polling locations will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., providing residents with the opportunity to cast their votes. The municipalities participating in the elections include Angier, Apex, Cary, Durham, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Morrisville, Rolesville, Wake Forest, Wendell, and Zebulon.

Important Voting Information

Registered voters are encouraged to confirm their voting eligibility using the NCSBE Voter Search tool. Olivia McCall, Wake County Elections Director, emphasizes the importance of checking registration status. “Not all registered voters have a ballot in this election, so make sure you check your voter registration,” McCall stated.

Election Details

Eligible voters can view their sample ballots to prepare for the contests that may include mayoral and various council or commissioner seats. This election cycle marks a significant change for Cary, which will now conduct its municipal elections in November instead of October, utilizing a nonpartisan plurality method.

Absentee Ballot Guidelines

Voters who have requested absentee ballots must return them to the Board of Elections Operations Center by 7:30 p.m. on election day. It is important to note that absentee ballots cannot be dropped off at polling sites. A postmark does not count as timely delivery for ballots submitted after the deadline.

Closing Procedures

All eligible voters who are in line by 7:30 p.m. will be permitted to vote. After the last voter has cast their ballot, election officials will begin closing the polls. Observers can watch the closing process at the Board of Elections Operations Center. Unofficial election results will be made available shortly afterward through the NCSBE Results Dashboard.
