Home Depot Recalls Nearly 100,000 Tools

Milwaukee Tool has announced a significant recall of its M18 FUEL Top Handle Chainsaw due to safety concerns. This recall includes about 90,860 units sold in the U.S. and an additional 7,500 in Canada.

Recall Details

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported that the chainsaw poses a potential laceration hazard. Specifically, the issue lies with the chainsaw’s chain brake, which may fail to activate. This defect increases the risk of user injury.

Identifying Affected Products

Consumers can identify the affected chainsaws by the catalog number 2826-20. Notably, these products will have an “A” in their serial numbers. The chainsaws are equipped with either a 12-inch or a 14-inch bar and are intended for use with Milwaukee’s M18 batteries.

Safety Precautions

  • Users are urged to stop using the affected chainsaws immediately.
  • For a free repair, consumers should contact Milwaukee Tool.
  • Repair registration can be completed on the company’s website.

Milwaukee has already reported two incidents linked to this defect, including one instance where a user suffered a lacerated finger.

Availability and Purchase Information

The M18 FUEL chainsaws were sold at Home Depot and various other home improvement stores, as well as online, from March 2023 until September 2024.
