West Indies Reveal T20 Squad for New Zealand Tour
Cricket West Indies has announced the T20 squad for the upcoming tour of New Zealand. The series will include five T20 Internationals scheduled from November 5-13. The team, known as the Men in Maroon, is set to depart for New Zealand on November 1 after their recent series win against Bangladesh.
Key Changes in the Squad
Matthew Forde has been recalled to the squad following his successful recovery from a shoulder injury. Additionally, Shamar Springer has been included to strengthen the seam bowling department, which has faced injuries in recent matches. Players Ramon Simmons and Jediah Blades will not participate due to injury concerns.
Exclusions and Preparations
- Gudakesh Motie has been excluded from the series due to recent performance issues.
- Motie will receive specialized training to address technical aspects of his bowling.
He will work with the Royals Sports Group in preparation for the 2026 T20 World Cup and his upcoming participation in the SA20 league.
Mental Skills Coaching Addition
A significant addition to the team management is Krisnan Hurdle, a Clinical Psychologist. He will serve as the Mental Skills and Performance Coach starting with this tour. This strategic move aims to enhance the team’s performance on the international stage.
